After so many great weeks since March we are seeing some of nature’s revenge come through and slow down our quest to hit the water early this year. Although not unbearable, conditions will be challenging for both walleye and bass anglers. From Bob Mann in Canada we get, “The Detroit River is really muddy right now.” You can see further evidence of this from the satellite photo from Tuesday 04-05-2016.

Even though the image is of great quality you can see how muddy the entire Canadian shoreline is from Mitchell’s Bay on down to the Detroit River. On the U.S. side things look better but as you look where the current collects down at the head of the river, things are looking very muddy there too.
We will see more silt pouring out of the river and creek inflows to the Lake too as the precipitation won’t be letting up.

Some options for anglers would to be to fish for largemouth bass in the canals around St. Clair Metropark. There you would remain protected from the wind and be around bass that would be cooperative under the harsh weather conditions. If you get to the Lake and find things aren’t as bad as they have predicted then a trip to the Mile Roads should be a good bet. No worries about the stained water because that’s where you will find the bass.
