Lake St Clair Bass Report 05-03-2016 Wayne Carpenter

| May 4, 2016

It has been a great season so far and this week is no exception. We got into some very nice sized smallies this time around. They really wanted the bait on the bottom and really wanted 4″ Canadian Mist for sure.

We lucked onto one of the few days where the winds were not blowing from the east. We had NW winds that were light and variable. It was still cool outside but compared to how things have been for weeks, it was very comfortable and we could fish anywhere we wanted to.

Although they are not on the video, we ended up hooking up with a fair amount of largemouth as well. Nothing bigger than two pound class though.

Although I have been fishing out here for over 20 years I have to say that getting used to the higher water is an adjustment. Some landmarks are no longer visible and when you read your graph over open water spots, the depths are not the same as they have been for quite some time. It messes with your head when you pull up on a spot that is supposed to be in 9 feet of water and it says 11 or 12 feet deep.
