In this list we see a bump in the numbers from last week at the American opener. It is quite possible that the increase in weight comes as a result of Canadian water being open to anglers now. Here is the difference from last week to this one:
American Opener top 5 places: 103.08 lbs
Canada Opening Weekend top 5 places: 111.04
This looks like a slam dunk case for better weights on week two of the bass season but if you look further down the standings, we see a different picture. We can get a good look at the drop in weight without doing a complete mathematical analysis. Let’s compare two things:
The last place to be at 17 pounds or more
Week 1: 18th place 17.00lbs
Week 2: 12th place 17.05lbs
Weight at 42nd place
Week 1: 12.07lbs
Week 2: 10.04
Based on past years, we can expect the top weights to stay about the same or even increase over the next few months.
In a recent St. Clair Report poll we asked anglers where they plan to fish over the last two weekends. At first, the numbers favored fishing the U.S. side but by the end of this weekend it all evened out. Here are the results:
Poll: Will you be fishing in U.S. Waters, Canada or Walpole this Weekend? (Check all that apply)
U.S. 50%
Canada 50%
