Poll: And the Winner Is…Canadian Mist!

| June 13, 2016

Canadian MistIt’s not a huge surprise, but the Xtreme Bass Tackle Canadian Mist tube tops the list of favorite tube colors according to the latest poll. The color has been at the top of the bass fishing food chain since 1999 and is not showing any chance of slowing down. Here are the results from the poll:

Canadian Mist             57.1 %
Formula G3™               14.3 %
St. Clair Crayfish™     14.3 %
St. Clair Goby NFT™    7.1 %
Sweet Green™                 7.1 %

Sweet Green OutsideIf there is a surprise, it’s that Sweet Green™ is bringing up the rear. This might reflect the time this color has been on the market. First introduced in 2015 it became the “tube bait of the year.” It was a no-doubter, and once we got past the cold water period, Sweet Green has taken off once again and been the bait catching the most fish on a daily basis. The key color in Sweet Green™ is the Formula G3™ laminate.

FG3Formula G3™ is the #2 color “all time” and so there is no surprise there with our poll results. Not only is it at the top of the list for Lake St. Clair but it puts up big numbers and size in Litte Bay De Noc, Burt/Mullet, Charlevoix, Elk Torch, Grand Traverse Bay and other deep, clear water. This season sales on Formula G3 are up in a big way.

LSCNFT FinalSt. Clair Goby NFT™ is a personal favorite and my second choice behind Sweet Green™ when taking customers out on guide trips. As a guide, you are always under pressure to produce good numbers and size. Using the four inch and drop-shot versions of Sweet Green and St. Clair Goby NFT™ has kept my guests busy hooking up with quality smallmouth.

SCCraw5WThe placement of St. Clair Crayfish™ on the list is well deserved as it continues to be a top seller in the summer months. Based on a live crayfish caught down by Windmill Point, St. Clair Crayfish has been putting up great numbers and size. It has almost achieved “sleeper bait” status except that there it has a large following of anglers who are loyal to it. It would be an excellent choice if you want to make a dramatic switch under difficult fishing conditions. It is also one of the top two tube bait colors for largemouth in the Xtreme Bass Tackle product line.
