Wyandotte High School Bass Team Contributes to the Sport of Fishing
June 4, 2016
The Wyandotte High School Bass Team chipped in to help with the annual Skip’s Fishing Derby at Bishop Park this Saturday. In a serious effort to participate in community service the team helped young anglers with their equipment plus measuring fish for the event.
There were probably over 150 fish caught in two hours by around 200 participants. The age groups were from 5-8 years old, and 9-13 years old. They handed out awards to longest fish, shortest fish and most fish for each age bracket.
The memorable moments were the five year olds yelling “FISH ON” to let the judges know they had one to measure. The most memorable fish was a 5 inch goby a girl caught because she was shaking with excitement over her first ever catch.
The funniest moment was one of our kids dropping a fish off the pier trying to measure it.
